Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our principal
“Welcome to Sylvania Heights Public School, where every student is known, valued and cared for.
Our school has a proud tradition of providing excellence and innovation in the education of students since 1952. Importantly, we prepare our students to love learning and be ready for the future. We do this through the provision of future-focussed education. We know we provide the best teachers who provide the best education across the full range of the primary curriculum and beyond. With a firm foundation in high levels of academic achievement, Sylvania Heights also has a reputation for outstanding Creative Arts programs and exemplar sport programs.
Our school operates a strong student wellbeing program that maximises caring and individual attention. Digital learning is embedded in all key learning areas and our school is lucky to provide Interactive whiteboards, laptops, ipads coding, robotics and computer access for all students. We know that students need to learn the important skills of collaboration and teamwork and we know that primary school experiences build a student’s character and lay a strong foundation in values and ethical behaviour. We know our students leave Sylvania Heights with a sense of citizenship, leadership and a strong sense of empathy. Our school actively teaches critical thinking and fosters a student’s ability to use their creativity and imagination across all learning. Most importantly, through our strong literacy and public speaking programs, our students develop communication skills that will assist them through all their future endeavours.
Sylvania Heights Public School is the centre of its community and we work in partnership with our parents and community leaders to maximise opportunities for our students. Our P&C and School Council are a dynamic team who support our school through their time, expertise and passion to provide the best education possible. Uniquely our staff go beyond the standard classroom practices to offer extensive extracurricular programs outside of school hours.
Our school motto is “Strive to Achieve” and we know that our students and staff constantly show that effort produces results. Importantly, we provide a quality teaching environment where students love learning, enjoy school and make great friends.
Welcome to our great school- where every child is a success.
